About the project

Overview

Little Scholars Playground is a company I co-own. I designed and developed the digital experience and all products. The idea of the game was similar to match the pairs but with a focus on sequences rather than just pairs.

The website was built on WordPress, using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.

I ran a full research discovery, user interviews and usability testing on the project, as well as all the wireframes, prototypes, brand and visual design of the brand.

Project focus

The primary focus of Little Scholars Playground was to design and develop an inclusive child-centred and STEM focused brand that bridges education, play, and sustainability for children aged 0–11 years.

Competitor analysis

Analysing the current competition and other was an essential part of the design process. I analysed the current market and chose five competitors ranging from the world-famous KiwiCo to London based children’s brand, Philly and Friends. The other three brands in the analysis are Lovevery, Little Omo and Play Card Co.

This research helped me understand how information is presented on a website for a children’s brand and in which order users are familiar with seeing important information.

Final designs

Branding

I was responsible for the full branding of Little Scholars Playground. Including; creating the logo, colour palette, typography, character illustrations, social media and marketing templates.

Character illustrations

I created a set of STEM characters for the brand. These characters were hand drawn using Procreate. Creating characters for a children’s helps to increase brand recognition, engagement and creates a relatable character that can become trusted ‘friends’ for children, making them feel more connected to the brand.

Product designs

All of Little Scholars Playground products are designed by myself. Initially I undertake market research, then source suppliers for samples before placing an order for the manufacturing of the products. Below are a select few of Little Scholars Playground products.
